A shoe is considered barefoot footwear when it follows a series of principles designed to give the foot greater freedom of movement and allow it to move more naturally.
A flexible sole that follows the natural movement of the foot; a wider toe box that provides more space for the toes; and zero drop, meaning there is no difference in height between the heel and the forefoot.
